IGSHPA Conference Presentations

Presented by: Daniel Ellis, ClimateMaster, Inc.

Although a boon to our industry, the enactment of federal GHP tax incentives has also generated both confusion and legitimate concerns.  This presentation will examine the issues and pending changes in the making.  It will also review the current regulatory and legislative landscape.

Ellis is president of ClimateMaster in Oklahoma City.  Previously co-founder and president of WaterFurnace, Ellis has been active in the GHP industry since 1978, beginning in contracting and wholesale distribution.  His technical contributions include the development of residential energy analysis software, advanced technology GHPs, and design procedures for commercial GHP systems.  Ellis is also an ardent industry advocate, most recently leading the effort that resulted in the current GHP tax incentives.

Ellis is chairman of the International Standards Organization (ISO) subcommittee for air conditioning and heat pump rating standards. He is a member of the executive board of the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), a member of the US National Team for the International Energy Agency (IEA) Heat Pump Centre, and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).  Ellis also serves on the International Ground-Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) Advisory Council and as a director of the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium (GHPC).
